Max Verstappen Addresses F1 Concerns, Denies Retirement Rumours

Max Verstappen, one of the sport’s most successful drivers, has addressed concerns about the new Formula 1 rules, denying speculation that he may retire. The 28-year-old Dutchman admitted that he is not fully enjoying driving the latest cars but remains committed to improving the sport.

"I am a bit conflicted, because I don't really enjoy driving the car but I do enjoy working with the team," Red Bull's Verstappen said.

"I don't want to leave [F1] but I also hope of course it gets better. I have had discussions with F1 and the [governing body] FIA and we are working towards something that will hopefully improve everything."

Verstappen has voiced criticism over pre-season testing, describing the cars as being like “Formula E on steroids” and noting issues at the Australian Grand Prix. Despite these concerns, he reassures fans that he remains committed to the sport and to finding solutions with F1 officials.

Preparing for the 24 Hours of Nuerburgring

Aside from F1, Verstappen will compete in the prestigious 24 Hours of Nuerburgring in May with his own Mercedes GT3 sportscar team supported by Red Bull. He brings prior experience to the Nordschleife track, having raced in several sportscar events.

The Dutch driver will share driving duties with Austrian Lucas Auer, Andorran Jules Gounon, and Spaniard Daniel Juncadella in a Mercedes-AMG Team Verstappen Racing car, carrying his signature F1 number three. Mercedes AMG Motorsport confirmed that Verstappen will also take part in a rescheduled preparation race at Nuerburgring on March 21 to accommodate his F1 commitments in China and Japan.

This move highlights Verstappen’s desire to balance his Formula 1 responsibilities while exploring endurance racing, keeping fans engaged across multiple motorsport platforms.
