Marco Fu Storms Qualifiers, Eyes Long-Awaited Crucible Return

Marco Fu Storms Qualifiers, Eyes Long-Awaited Crucible Return

There was no easing into it. Marco Fu walked in, settled quickly, and took charge.

The 48-year-old, once a familiar face at Sheffield’s biggest stage, brushed aside Thailand’s Mink Nutcharut 10-1. Marco Fu put together a dominant performance. Breaks flowed, including a crisp 137 that drew murmurs around the arena.

A Long Road Back Begins to Feel Real

For years, the Marco Fu Crucible return story has hovered in the background. Injuries, form dips, rankings sliding. All of it. And yet, here he was, compiling, controlling, dictating pace like old times.

“I played quite well and scored heavily,” he said after the match.

Still, he didn’t dress it up. The challenge ahead remains steep. The World Snooker Championship qualifiers are no gentle path. Every round tightens, every opponent sharper.

To be fair, the standard now is brutal.

Elsewhere, the same qualifiers delivered harsh exits. Ken Doherty’s run ended without much resistance, while Reanne Evans fell short despite flashes of fight. You could sense it across the venue, tension building with every table in play.

The draw now feels wide open. The format leaves no room for comfort. Four rounds stand between hope and the Crucible lights. Sixteen will make it. The rest pack up early.

Fu knows what waits. He’s been there before. Twice a semi-finalist, once a genuine threat.

Now, the question lingers. Can this run hold? Because if this version of Fu sticks around, things could get interesting very quickly.
