Michael Carrick In Line For Permanent Manchester United Coaching Position

Michael Carrick In Line For Permanent Manchester United Coaching Position

Michael Carrick has become the leading choice for the Manchester United manager’s job, as the club’s top officials are preparing to hold talks with him about continuing in the role after the season ends.

The former United midfielder has impressed many people since becoming caretaker manager in January. He has guided the team well with consistent performances in the Premier League and also helped them secure qualification for the Champions League.

Manchester United parted ways with their former permanent manager, Ruben Amorim, in January. Due to that, the club wanted to carefully consider their future options before appointing a new manager.

According to a recent report, chief executive Omar Berrada and football director Jason Wilcox have reportedly decided to move forward with Michael Carrick. Considering that, they are now expected to inform Sir Jim Ratcliffe about their decision this week.

If Ratcliffe gives his approval, United will begin official discussions with Carrick regarding his future at the club.

Since taking charge, Carrick has guided Manchester United to wins over several clubs in Premier League. During that run, he also came out on top against managers such as Pep Guardiola, Mikel Arteta, Unai Emery and Arne Slot.

Meanwhile, Manchester United have also collected 33 Premier League points under Carrick, which is the highest total of any team in the league during that period.

Carrick has received strong support from his coaching staff, including assistant manager Steve Holland and first-team coaches Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion.

The good thing is that United's talks with Carrick will include discussions for his backroom staff to continue. The club believe Carrick's backroom staff have a strong blend of skillsets and personalities, and those who have observed their coaching at Carrington have said there is a strong dynamic among them.

Speaking about his current role, Michael Carrick said that he is enjoying his time with the team and looks forward to putting up more strong performances in the upcoming games.

"I love doing what I'm doing. It's a great position for me to be in. It feels pretty natural, if I'm totally honest with that," said Michael Carrick after defeating Liverpool in a recent clash.
