Seifert’s Explosive Knock Help Super Giants Beat Sunrisers in The Hundred 2026

Manchester Super Giants kept their hopes of reaching The Hundred knockout stages alive with a convincing 10-wicket win over Sunrisers Leeds. The defeat also ended Sunrisers' hopes of earning a direct place in the final.

Chasing just 128 runs, the Super Giants made light work of the target. Tim Seifert led the chase with an unbeaten 80 off 40 balls, helping his team reach the target with 33 balls still left. The result also secured Trent Rockets' place at the top of the table with 24 points. They will now go straight into Sunday's final at Lord's.

Although the Super Giants chased the target in style, their win was mainly built on a strong bowling and fielding effort. They put Sunrisers in to bat first on a good flat track at Old Trafford and kept things under control.

At first, the decision seemed questionable as Mitch Marsh and Ryan Rickelton added 42 runs from just 22 balls for the opening wicket. Marsh, who is the tournament's leading run-scorer, made 32 before Noor Ahmad caught him at extra cover.

Marsh's dismissal was another missed chance for him to turn a good start into a big score. It also started another collapse in the Sunrisers' middle order, which struggled once the opening partnership was broken.

Gus Atkinson was the top bowler for Super Giants, finishing with 3/30. Sonny Baker also played an important role, taking the wickets of Zak Crawley and Harry Brook on relatively low scores. Due to this, Sunrisers Leeds were eventually bowled out for 127, which is their lowest score in this year’s tournament.

Super Giants made the chase look easy under the floodlights, with Tim Seifert and Paul Walter taking the Sunrisers bowlers apart with aggressive batting.

Sunrisers had a chance when Seifert mistimed a shot off Abrar Ahmed and the ball went high in the air. Zak Crawley, however, could not hold on to the difficult catch, and the visitors soon lost hope. A few balls later, Walter made things even harder for Sunrisers by hitting Abrar for two sixes down the ground. Afterwards, he finished unbeaten on 44 from 28 balls.

Super Giants then focused on finishing the chase quickly to improve their net run-rate. They needed to reach the target with at least 25 balls remaining to move above Sunrisers, and they did so with ease to win the game.
