Dhaka witnessed a sharp start in the Pakistan vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI, and most of the noise came from one bat.
Bangladesh had opted to bowl first, hoping early movement would trouble Pakistan’s top order. For a short while the plan looked steady.
Then Maaz Sadaqat stepped up.
The left-hander began with crisp boundaries, punching gaps and lifting the pace of the innings. Soon the field spread, but the runs kept flowing. Drives screamed through the covers.
In no time Pakistan raced past the hundred mark.
The Maaz Sadaqat innings ended on a blazing 75 from just 46 balls, packed with six fours and five big sixes. Mehidy Hasan Miraz finally broke the stand when Litton Das completed the catch, but by then the momentum had already shifted in Pakistan’s favour.
Sahibzada Farhan held one end with patience while Sadaqat attacked everything loose.
At 105 for 1 in 13.4 overs, Pakistan look firmly in control of the Pakistan vs Bangladesh 2nd ODI. Bangladesh now need quick wickets to stop the chase from slipping away.
For now though, the evening belongs to one name. Maaz Sadaqat.
