Bangladesh captain Litton Das praised the performance of his star bowlers, Taskin and Mustafizur, after defeating Sri Lanka in the Super Four clash. He credited both pacers for changing the game, as they produced splendid performances at the death against Sri Lanka. It was due to their tight bowling, Sri Lanka couldn’t go big, despite Dasun Shanaka playing a lone hand in the end.
The Saturday game between Bangladesh and Sri Lanka turned out to be a thriller, as the tigers clinched victory while chasing a formidable total of 169. Just like bowling, the batting performance of Bangladesh was also at its best. The opener, Saif Hassan, gave a great start to the Bangladesh team by taking down Sri Lanka bowlers furiously in the Powerplay. He scored a commanding 61 runs that gave Bangladesh a strong impetus in the chase.
After winning the toss, Bangladesh decided to bowl first. They came into the game with a complete plan against every Sri Lanka batter, which is why their bowling looked good from the start of the match. The experienced duo of Taskin and Mustafizur bowled superbly in the game by keeping the Sri Lankan middle order under pressure.
“Mustafizur and Taskin changed the game, with their 19th and 20th overs. It was looking at 190 at one time,” said Litton Das after the game.
It should be noted that Sri Lanka were trying to go big at the end of the innings. They had Asalanka and Shanaka in the middle to launch the firepower. However, due to tight bowling from Taskin and Mustafizur, they could not execute their plans. Dasun Shanaka, however, played a remarkable innings by hitting plenty of sixes in the end. His lone innings helped Sri Lanka to put on a formidable total of 169 on the board.
Litton Das also heaped praise on the young Saif Hassan. He said that Saif has got what the Bangladesh team wants. He showed full confidence in the young star, saying that he could win plenty of games for Bangladesh.
“I know Saif has the talent to win us games. We knew he would be a good batsman in the UAE. I know his character, and know his game,” said Litton Das.
Bangladesh will now play their next Super Four game against India on Wednesday, where they’ll hope to come back again with the same commanding performance.
