Litton Das ruled out as Bangladesh face must-win challenge

Litton Das ruled out as Bangladesh face must-win challenge

Bangladesh have suffered a fresh setback after Litton Das injury ruled the wicketkeeper-batter out of the remaining matches in the ongoing Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe ODI series.

Litton had already missed the opening ODI after picking up a hamstring problem. Team management initially hoped he would recover in time for the remaining fixtures, but a fitness assessment confirmed he is still not ready for competitive cricket.

Bangladesh team physio Bayjedul Islam Khan said Litton failed the latest fitness test and would return to Dhaka to continue his rehabilitation. With two matches scheduled in quick succession, the medical staff decided there was no realistic chance of him regaining full match fitness.

The timing could hardly be worse.

Bangladesh entered the series as favorites but were shocked by Zimbabwe in the opening ODI. That defeat has left them with no room for another mistake. A second loss would hand Zimbabwe the series and deepen questions surrounding Bangladesh's limited-overs form.

Parvez Hossain Emon has been called into the squad to replace Litton for the second and third matches. The left-handed batter now has an opportunity to stake his claim in the national side during a high-pressure series.

Bangladesh searching for answers after opening defeat

The Bangladesh vs Zimbabwe ODI contest resumes in Harare with everything on the line for the visitors. Bangladesh need a victory to force the series into a deciding third match, while Zimbabwe are one win away from sealing a memorable home triumph.

The absence of Litton removes one of Bangladesh's most experienced top-order players and a reliable wicketkeeper. His loss will test the batting unit, which struggled to build partnerships in the first ODI.

For Bangladesh, the focus now shifts from injury concerns to survival. Another disappointing performance would turn an unexpected series defeat into a major talking point, while Zimbabwe have every reason to believe they can finish the job.
