Lamine Yamal Believes Barcelona Can Still Come Back Against Atletico in High-Stakes UEFA Clash

Lamine Yamal is backing Barcelona to make a strong comeback against Atletico Madrid in the upcoming UEFA Champions League Quarterfinal. He said Barcelona shouldn’t think of it as a “miracle”, as they have every chance to turn things around in the next encounter.

Barcelona lost the last match against Atletico Madrid by 2-0. They were defeated at home, which certainly came as a surprise to many fans. However, Yamal isn’t making a big fuss about it, as he knows Barcelona can upset Atletico in the next clash.

"We mustn't think of a comeback as a miracle. I've been lucky enough that, ever since I was a child, I've had to take on more responsibility than I should have. I'm used to it.” said Lamine Yamal while talking at a press conference.

"I just focus on enjoying it, on not seeing it as a problem, but as a strength. I'm grateful for everything that's happening to me." added Lamine Yamal.

A large part of the squad travelling to Madrid has been developed at La Masia, Barcelona’s famous youth academy. Among them, 18-year-old Lamine Yamal stands out and is often described as the brightest talent to come through since Lionel Messi

He rose to fame during the 2024 European Championship, where he played a key role in helping Spain win the tournament and later finished second in the 2025 Ballon d’Or voting.

"It's very important to have lots of La Masia players on the pitch for matches like tomorrow's. We're all home-grown, we all love Barca. We know what a moment like this means. We'll give it our all right to the end," said Lamine Yamal.

He further added that Barcelona will not go down without a fight in the upcoming match, as players are ready to give their all to turn the tables against Atletico.

"We promise that, if we're knocked out, we'll fight right to the end. We'll give our all for this badge. It'll be a match lasting 90 minutes or more; this isn't over yet. A comeback is very much possible, which is why we're here," concluded Lamine Yamal.
