Mbappe Knee Injury Rattles Madrid, France Plans

Mbappe Knee Injury Rattles Madrid, France Plans

Kylian Mbappe’s season has hit an uneasy pause. With just over 100 days before the global showpiece in North America, the latest Kylian Mbappe injury update has rattled both Real Madrid and France.

The forward has been nursing damage to the outer ligament in his left knee since late 2025. In recent days, the soreness persisted and showed no signs of easing. As a result, Madrid omitted him from the squad for the Champions League play-off against Benfica.

He is expected to rest for at least 10 days. In a campaign already stretched by expectation, that feels significant.

Madrid Feel The Heat Without Their No 10

Madrid’s title charge has wobbled. A setback at Osasuna reopened the La Liga race and handed Barcelona fresh belief.

Mbappe has carried the attack, plain and simple. Thirty-eight goals in 33 matches across competitions underline his influence. When the scoreboard flashed another of his strikes earlier this season, fans erupted.

Coach Alvaro Arbeloa praised the striker’s effort, admitting the Frenchman has pushed through discomfort to steady the side. You could see it in his movement at times. Sharp, then cautious.

The timing stings. Madrid chase a first major trophy of the Mbappe era while France monitor his recovery closely as World Cup 2026 preparations intensify. Didier Deschamps names his squad next month. There is little room for risk.

If Madrid advance in Europe, they may resist any temptation to rush him back. If they fall short, pressure will mount.

For now, the message is simple. Mbappe needs to rest and recover fast. Because both Madrid’s ambitions and World Cup 2026 preparations hinge on one knee holding firm.
