Kyle Walker Announces Retirement from International Football After 96 England Appearances

Kyle Walker has announced his retirement from international football after featuring for England at five major tournaments. In doing so, he also bagged 96 caps, which showcases how valuable he has been for England over the years.

Kyle Walker was an integral part of England teams that reached the European Championship final in 2021 and 2024. His decision to bid farewell to international football means he will not be part of the English side this time in the upcoming FIFA World Cup 2026.

While announcing his retirement from international football, Walker said that it was not an easy decision, however, he is proud of the journey in which he represented England in various matches.

“I am sad to be making this decision, but I’m also very proud of what I’ve achieved with England. To represent my country at five major tournaments, to get to the finals that we’ve reached and to be surrounded by this England team, especially the players and the managers that I’ve had the privilege of working under, has been a great honor.” said the former Manchester City defender, Kyle Walker.

“But today is the time that comes to an end. It’s good for me to have a little bit of closure to my career on the international stage.” added Kyle Walker.

The reputation of Kyle Walker in English football is quite big, as he is the 10th most capped England men’s player of all time. So, to celebrate the achievements of Walker, the English Football Association has announced that a proper tribute will be given to his international career after the FIFA World Cup 2026.

England manager Thomas Tuchel hopes all the football fans will join him to pay tribute to Walker, as he is one of the greats who fully deserves this recognition.

“I know all England fans will join me in congratulating Kyle on an incredible international career. I was always aware that he was one of England’s greats who fully embraced the highest honor of representing his country.” said the England manager Thomas Tuchel.
