India’s Collective Strength in T20 World Cup Lauded by Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma

Ishan Kishan and Abhishek Sharma believe that the unity within the Indian camp helped them clinch the ICC T20 World Cup trophy. Abhishek highlighted that the team stood by him when he was struggling to score runs. This support gave him a lot of confidence, which eventually paid off in the final of the mega tournament.

"When I was not making runs, everyone in the team was wanting me to get among the runs again. In that sense, the company around you matters a lot. When I wasn't able to contribute, everyone was saying 'you'll do it.' I was struggling with self-doubt, but it was the players, coaches and support staff that had belief in me." said Abhishek Sharma.

Ishan Kishan also endorsed the views of Abhishek, saying a player must need to trust his abilities no matter how tough the time is. It is something that helps to keep your thoughts clear, allowing you to express yourself effectively on the field.

"No matter how bad your time is, you have to firstly trust yourself. If you're doubting yourself, then you can't express yourself on the field. But I also feel that when you're working hard and helping others during their bad times, then it all comes back to you as well at a later time.” said Ishan Kishan.

Kishan then recalled the conversation he had with Suryakumar Yadav when he was selected in the T20 World Cup Squad. He said the Indian captain showed full faith in his selection, and asked him to play his best game to win the mega tournament for India.

"When Suryakumar called me few months back to tell me about my selection in the World Cup squad, he asked me, 'can you win the World Cup for me?', Kishan said. "I just asked him back, 'will you trust me?' and he said 'yes, I will trust you.'” said Ishan Kishan.
