Karachi vs Peshawar Live: Roy Smashes 85 Before Ali Raza’s Final-Over Hat-Trick Restricts Kings to 182

LAHORE: Karachi Kings posted a competitive 182/9 in their 20 overs against Peshawar Zalmi in Match 32 of PSL 2026. King's opener, Jason Roy, played a leading role in the innings before a late-inning hat-trick by Zalmi's Ali Raza.

Karachi Kings captain David Warner, returning to the side after a brief absence, won the toss and elected to bat first. The Kings were desperate to snap a four-match losing streak, and English opener Jason Roy provided the perfect platform.

Roy looked in sublime touch from the outset, anchoring the innings with a fluid 85 off 51 deliveries, peppered with 11 boundaries and two sixes. He was well-supported in the middle overs by Azam Khan, who added a quickfire 35 off 19 balls, including three sixes, to keep the run rate hovering near the nine-run mark.

However, Peshawar Zalmi's bowling attack, led by the discipline of Aaron Hardie and the clinical execution of Ali Raza, ensured the Kings never truly ran away with the game. While Roy was at the crease, a total beyond 200 seemed plausible, but his dismissal in the 19th over, caught brilliantly by James Vince off the bowling of Mohammad Basit Ali, triggered a lower-order collapse.

The final over proved to be a nightmare for the Kings as young pacer Ali Raza etched his name into the record books. Raza claimed a sensational hat-trick, dismissing the lower order to finish with remarkable figures of 4/41. His lethal death-bowling restricted Karachi to 182/9, a target that feels competitive but perhaps slightly short of what the Kings envisioned when they were 145/3 at the 16-over mark.

Zalmi’s spinners, Sufiyan Muqeem and Iftikhar Ahmed, also played their part in the middle overs, picking up a wicket each and stemming the flow of runs during crucial partnerships.

As the teams head into the second innings, all eyes will be on Peshawar Zalmi’s captain Babar Azam, the tournament's leading run-scorer, to see if he can guide his top-seeded side to an eighth victory of the season and solidify their position at the summit.
