In the most-awaiting Karachi Kings vs Lahore Qalandars match, Karachi Kings' pace attack made early inroads, leaving the Lahore Qalandars reeling at 42/2 after the first five overs at a packed Gaddafi Stadium.
Opting to bat first, the Qalandars faced immediate pressure from a disciplined Karachi bowling unit. Moeen Ali provided the breakthrough in the first over, dismissing the dangerous Fakhar Zaman for just 4.
In the 2nd Over, Mir Hamza was introduced to exploit the tacky surface. He deceived Mohammad Naeem with a subtle change in pace and the batter tried to flat-bat it down the ground but it hit the toe-end of the bat and came back to Hamza's right.
Despite the double blow, Abdullah Shafique showed glimpses of resilience, striking two elegant boundaries to reach 23 off 17 balls. However, Karachi’s captain, Warner, maintained aggressive fields, ensuring the Qalandars could not break free during the powerplay restrictions.
With the run rate of seven and two key wickets back in the dugout, the onus now shifts to the middle order to rebuild the innings against a clinical Kings' defense.
