Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 champions, Karachi Kings, have officially announced their retentions for the upcoming PSL 11, ahead of the landmark auction scheduled for February 11, 2026. The franchise shared the news via an engaging poster on social media.
“Core secured. The KingsSquad starts strong as we present our top four retentions for HBL PSL 11,” the caption read.
In their retention strategy, Karachi Kings have retained Hasan Ali in the Platinum category and Abbas Afridi in the Diamond category. All-rounder Khushdil Shah has been kept in Gold, while emerging talent Saad Baig features in the Emerging category.
In the Gold category, Khushdil Shah was chosen over other available players such as Aamer Jamal, Irfan Khan Niazi, Mir Hamza, Zahid Mahmood, Omair bin Yousuf, Shahnawaz Dahani, and Arafat Minhas. Abbas Afridi edged out Test skipper Shan Masood for the Diamond spot, and Saad Baig emerged as the top choice in the Emerging category, which also included Riazahullah and Fawad Ali.
Under PSL 11 retention regulations, each franchise can retain up to four players, with one player per category. The new rules have also removed previous provisions like mentors, brand ambassadors, and the Right to Match (RTM), simplifying team-building for the auction.
The 11th edition of the PSL will kick off on March 26, 2026, marking Faisalabad’s debut as a host city. The tournament will now span five cities, including Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
Karachi Kings’ early retentions focus on maintaining the team’s pace attack and all-round balance, setting a strong foundation for the PSL 11 auction and the season ahead.
