Josh Inglis Unfazed by Pakistan’s Home Advantage Despite Pace Trio Absence

Australia’s stand-in captain Josh Inglis is not much concerned about Pakistan’s home advantage in the upcoming ODI series. He is also confident in the pace attack of the team that is currently missing three star players, including Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc.

Speaking at the pre-match conference ahead of the first ODI between Pakistan vs Australia, Inglis said the current Australian team has a lot of quality in its squad, which is why he is hopeful for positive results in the series.  

“I’m not going to say whether Pakistan have an edge or not but we’ve got a lot of talent in our squad. Billy Stanlake has returned after a long time and bowls with serious pace while Riley Meredith is also really exciting," said Australia’s stand-in captain Josh Inglis.

He then highlighted the brilliance of Nathan Ellis, saying he is quite experienced in international cricket, so the team is expecting strong performances from him in the upcoming series.

"Nathan Ellis is very experienced in white-ball cricket now so we have plenty of quality in the group and I’m excited to see what they can do throughout the series,” said Josh Inglis while talking to the reporters.

Australia are currently on a tour of Pakistan for a three-match ODI series. It is their first visit for 50-over games since March–April 2022, when Pakistan won the series 2–1 at home.

Looking back at Australia’s earlier games against Pakistan, the wicketkeeper-batter admitted that the opposition is tough to face and said his side will need to stay disciplined and consistent across the series.

“In terms of previous series against Pakistan they are a seriously good cricket team and definitely not to be taken lightly. We never do that. We have to be at the top of our game against you guys and play really good cricket so it is an exciting series ahead,” said Josh Inglis.

The upcoming ODI series between Pakistan vs Australia is eagerly awaited by many fans, as both sides have quality players in their lineups. The visitors are certainly short of some reputed international names, but their bench strength is still very strong and potent enough to challenge Pakistan on its home turf.
