Joburg Super Kings edged past Durban Super Giants in a low-scoring encounter in Durban. Their star middle-order batter, Rilee Rossouw, played a sensible knock to guide JSK home against a spirited fightback by the DSG team. It is a crucial victory for Joburg Super Kings, which has helped them to secure second position on the SA20 points table.
Besides Rilee Rossouw, the roles of Prenelan Subrayen and Richard Gleeson were also instrumental in Joburg Super Kings’ victory. They bowled exceptionally well in the first innings, which made batting quite difficult for the Durban Super Giants team.
Joburg Super Kings showcased complete domination against Super Giants’ batters in the first innings of the match. The Kiwi opening duo of Kane Williamson and Devon Conway failed miserably, as Prenelan Subrayen sent them back to the pavilion early in the Powerplay.

The explosive middle-order striker of Durban Super Giants, Heinrich Klaasen, also failed badly in today’s match. He got out after scoring just 3 runs, courtesy of some smart bowling by Donovan Ferreira.
With the dismissals of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen, half of the DSG batting lineup returned to the pavilion for just 55 runs. This allowed Joburg Super Kings to apply more pressure on the lower order, which failed to put up any resistance. As a result, the entire Durban Super Giants team was skittled out for just 86 runs in 17.1 overs.
The combined bowling effort by Prenelan Subrayen and Richard Gleeson demolished their batting plans, as the duo took 3 wickets each in the first innings of the match.
The contest became interesting when Durban Super Giants made a spirited comeback in the second innings. They made batting difficult for the Joburg Super Kings by taking early wickets in the Powerplay. With the quick dismissals of Faf du Plessis, Matthew De Villiers, and Wiaan Mulder, even a small target of 87 runs looked challenging to chase at one point.
However, the arrival of Rilee Rossouw at the crease settled the nerves of the JSK dugout. He utilized all his experience to take the innings forward by playing wisely. Despite his naturally aggressive style, Rossouw displayed calmness at the crease to ensure his team did not lose further wickets.
Rilee Rossouw was looking well set to finish the match, however, he lost his wicket in the end after scoring 43 runs. His great knock allowed Joburg Super Kings to seal the victory in the 12th over, as Donovan Ferreira hit two consecutive boundaries to end the match with a thumping Joburg Super Giants victory.
By giving a commanding performance against Durban Super Giants, Joburg Super Giants have now secured second position on the points table. They will now look to move towards the top by delivering similar strong performances in the matches coming ahead.
