Italy Unveils Full Squad for Historic Maiden ICC T20 World Cup Appearance

Italy has unveiled a 15-member squad, as they are all set to feature in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Wayne Madsen has been named captain of Italy, as he is the most experienced player in the team who has played in different leagues across the world. He understands the competitiveness of international cricket, which is why the management has picked him to lead the national squad.

The Italian squad also includes former South African international JJ Smuts, who is recognized by many as a specialist hard hitter. Besides him, the team also includes two pairs of brothers i.e. Harry Manenti and Benjamin Manenti, and Anthony Mosca and Justin Mosca.

The coaching staff of Italy comprises experienced former cricketers, including head coach John Davison and assistant coaches Kevin O'Brien and Dougie Brown. These are well-reputed names in international cricket, as they have experience of playing in different countries.

Italy are placed in Group C of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026, along with Bangladesh, England, Nepal, and West Indies. They will play their first game against Bangladesh in Kolkata on February 9, however, this fixture is currently facing many uncertainties due to Bangladesh’s refusal to tour India.

After the Kolkata game, Italy will move to Mumbai, where they will play against Nepal on February 12. They will then head back to Kolkata to face England on February 16 and West Indies on February 19.

Since this is Italy’s first appearance in the ICC T20 World Cup, expectations are high for them in the upcoming tournament. They have talented players who can deliver notable performances, so teams in Group C cannot underestimate them in the mega event.
