Islamabad United vs RawalPindiz Live: Ghulam & Rizwan Lead 138-Run Chase in Powerplay

KARACHI: The Rawalpindiz chase of 138 got off to a disastrous start at the National Stadium as Abdullah Fazal was sent back to the pavilion on the very first delivery of the innings. Facing the pace of Imad Waseem, Fazal was undone by a swing delivery. 

Despite the early shock, the experienced pair of Kamran Ghulam and skipper Mohammad Rizwan showcased remarkable composure to ensure no further damage was done during the powerplay. Ghulam, in particular, took the attack to the Islamabad United bowlers to keep the scoreboard moving. 

He broke the early tension in the second over, punishing width from Richard Gleeson with a crisply timed drive through the covers. 

Rizwan, adopting his trademark anchor role, focused on strike rotation and gap-finding, allowing Ghulam to be the primary aggressor. By the end of the powerplay, the duo had successfully navigated the initial threat, steering the side to 50/1. 

With the required run rate sitting comfortably below seven and nine wickets still in hand, Rawalpindiz remain the favourites to secure their first win of the season, provided they can handle the spin threat of Shadab Khan in the middle overs.
