Hyderabad Kingsmen posted a low total of just 80 runs after being bowled out, which was always going to be a challenging target to defend. Mohammad Ali gave Hyderabad an early breakthrough by dismissing Devon Conway (†0) for a duck in the second over.
However, Mohsin Riaz and Sameer Minhas made light work of the modest total, dominating the Hyderabad bowlers with ease.
Mohsin Riaz’s 42 runs off just 18 balls were the highlight of Islamabad’s chase. He showcased his power-hitting skills, smashing 6 boundaries and 2 sixes, and finished with an extraordinary strike rate of 233.33.
His aggressive approach took the game away from Hyderabad quickly, as he was able to find the boundaries at will. Alongside him, Sameer Minhas remained unbeaten on 27 off 20 balls, supporting Riaz with controlled batting to keep the required run rate in check.
Despite the early loss of Conway, the duo of Riaz and Minhas ensured there was no further collapse. Shadab Khan came in to seal the victory, hitting 4* from just 1 ball. With the match wrapped up in 6.4 overs, Islamabad United were victorious by 8 wickets, with 80 balls to spare.
On the bowling side, Mohammad Ali was the best bowler for Hyderabad, taking 2 wickets for 29 runs in 3.4 overs, including the wickets of both Mohsin Riaz and Devon Conway. However, the other Hyderabad bowlers, Hunain Shah (0/26) and Hassan Khan (0/23), struggled to make an impact as Islamabad’s top order continued to dominate.
Islamabad United’s dominant batting chased down the low target with ease, securing an 8-wicket win with 80 balls to spare. Hyderabad Kingsmen will need to reflect on their underwhelming performance as they aim to bounce back in future matches.
