Former all-rounder Irfan Pathan has identified Khaleel Ahmed as the ideal successor to Arshdeep Singh in India’s white-ball pace attack, highlighting his potential to become a long-term asset for the team.
Pathan praised Arshdeep as India’s current No. 1 in white-ball cricket, but stressed the importance of having a quality left-arm fast bowling backup. He said: “You need to bowl at 135–140 kph, swing the ball both ways, and use the bouncer effectively. Khaleel ticks all these boxes and is improving further.”
He also cited Khaleel’s enhanced slow bouncer, seam position, and fitness, alongside his strong showing in the IPL with Chennai Super Kings, as reasons for confidence in his future potential.
