Josh Inglis Joins LSG Squad for Final IPL Phase After Wedding Break

Josh Inglis Joins LSG Squad for Final IPL Phase After Wedding Break

Lucknow Super Giants are set to welcome Australia batter Josh Inglis back into their squad ahead of the clash against Mumbai Indians on May 4 in the Indian Premier League. The wicketkeeper-batter has missed the first half of the season due to personal commitments following his wedding in mid-April.

Inglis, who got married on April 18, is expected to return to India after a short break and could be available for the final phase of the league stage. His participation would depend on travel clearance and team requirements for the remaining fixtures.

The Australian had an impactful season last year, scoring 278 runs at a strike rate of 162.57 for Punjab Kings before being released ahead of the 2026 auction. Lucknow Super Giants later secured his services for INR 8.6 crore despite knowing he would miss a portion of the tournament.

LSG Balancing Overseas Combinations

If available from May 4, Inglis could feature in up to six league matches, depending on how Lucknow Super Giants structure their overseas combination. The team currently includes Mitchell Marsh, Aiden Markram and Nicholas Pooran, with the fourth overseas slot used selectively.

South African spinner George Linde has featured in two of their last three matches, while Pooran has struggled for form, managing only 51 runs in six innings at a strike rate of 80.

Fast bowler Anrich Nortje has also left the LSG squad recently, with the franchise yet to confirm the reason. He played only once this season, going wicketless for 39 runs in his spell against Delhi Capitals on April 1.

Points Table Pressure Continues

Checking IPL 2026 points table, Lucknow Super Giants are currently placed eighth in the ten-team standings, with two wins from six matches. Their next fixture is against Rajasthan Royals in Lucknow on April 22 as they look to stay in playoff contention.
