India Tour to Zimbabwe Confirmed as World Champions Set to Ignite Harare This July

Zimbabwe Cricket (ZC) has confirmed that India national cricket team will visit Harare for a three-match T20I series in July. This will mark India’s first tour of Zimbabwe since July 2024, when the teams contested five T20Is.

The announcement follows Zimbabwe’s scheduled tour of India in January 2027 for three ODIs, their first bilateral series in India since 2002. ZC managing director Givemore Makoni described the upcoming home series as “a fantastic opportunity for our players to test themselves against the world champions on home soil.”

India and Zimbabwe last faced each other during the Super Eight stage of the T20 World Cup in Chennai, where India posted 256 for 4 and secured a 72-run victory. Makoni highlighted that the upcoming series will allow Zimbabwe to build on their recent performances at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 and gain experience against top-level opposition.

Zimbabwe’s visit to India after more than two decades also carries historic significance. “India is one of the premier destinations in world cricket and this tour represents both an honour and a valuable opportunity for our players,” Makoni added. He emphasized that the series will foster competitive cricket while strengthening ties between the two boards.

The July T20Is in Harare are expected to draw significant local interest, providing Zimbabwe’s squad with a platform to test strategies ahead of future international fixtures. Both teams are set to field strong line-ups, with the series forming part of broader preparations for upcoming ICC events.
