India has posted a strong total of 188 against Oman in the last group stage game of the ACC Men’s Asia Cup 2025. The defending champions took advantage of Samson’s fifty, while multiple late-order cameos also helped them to put on a commanding total on the scoreboard. In a great show of skills, the Oman bowlers kept things tight and took regular wickets to keep India under 200.

After winning the toss at Abu Dhabi, India decided to bat first against Oman. They made two changes to the squad by including Arshdeep Singh and Harshit Rana in place of Jasprit Bumrah and Varun Chakravarthy. The management specifically decided to rest Bumrah for today’s game, as they need the ace Indian bowler fully fit for the Super Four matches.

Coming out to bat, India started off well. Abhishek Sharma took down the Oman bowlers in an aggressive way. However, the disappointing run of Shubman Gill at the top continued. An absolute ripper from Shah Faisal did the demolition job for Gill, as once again, he looked uncomfortable. The Indian vice-captain got out after scoring just 5 runs.

However, the wicket of Gill didn’t change Abhishek’s plan. He came to the crease to utilize Powerplay, as most of his game is based on that. He played freely during the first six overs, giving India a strong total of 60 at the end of the Powerplay.

But after the completion of that, things became difficult for him. He got out cheaply after nicking the outside length delivery. Ramanandi picked up this crucial wicket, ensuring India do not fly away on the back of Powerplay runs.

Sanju Samson, however, played a steady knock for India. He came out to bat at 3 today in place of Suryakumar Yadav. Sanju understood the changing condition of the pitch, as it was becoming a bit slow and harder to bat on. He didn’t try to slog the ball all the way, instead, tried to play every over according to merit. Due to this, he made a steady fifty and guided India to put on a strong total at the end.

The other Indian batters couldn’t perform big in the 1st innings. There were short cameos from some batters that gave India much needed momentum at the end. The innings of Tilak Varma proved to be good, as he hit 2 big sixes at the end. He finished off by scoring quick 29 runs in the middle.

On the back of Samson’s fifty and late order cameos, India has now posted 188 on the board. They are looking confident to defend this score, as chasing it in the slow Abu Dhabi wicket would definitely be a tough challenge for Oman batters.
