The Indian team has refused to collect the Asia Cup trophy from the ACC president, Mohsin Naqvi. The post-match presentation ceremony of the final match has therefore concluded without presenting the silverware to the Indian team. The men in blue also didn’t collect their winners’ medals, as BCCI instructed them not to engage with the ACC President after the match.

It is worth noting that the recent political standoff between India and Pakistan has significantly impacted this year’s Asia Cup. The earlier handshake controversy between the two teams made headlines in the entire cricket world. Now, the decision to not take the winning trophy from the ACC President, who is also the chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), has only made matters worse.

The post-match presentation ceremony of the final already started after an hour delay. As per the reports, this delay occurred due to the standoff between the Indian team management and the ACC President. Backed up with the prime authority, Mohsin Naqvi also refused to accept the demand of the Indian team. As a result, no winning trophy was handed to the Indian squad at the end of the final match.

However, individual performance awards were given to Kuldeep Yadav, Shivam Dube, and Tilak Varma during the presentation ceremony. Similarly, Pakistan captain Salman Ali Agha also collected the runners-up prize money cheque at the end of the match.

Due to the adamant response of the Indian team, the closing ceremony then concluded without reporting much about the standoff.

"I have been informed by the ACC that the Indian cricket team will not be collecting their awards tonight. So that does conclude the post-match presentation," said Simon Doull at the end of the presentation ceremony.

Talking about the final, it proved to be a nail-biting thriller in which India eventually came out as the well-deserved winners. They chased the small target of Pakistan in the last over of the match. Tilak Varma remained the star of the Indian batting, as he played a remarkable knock of 69 runs that allowed India to chase the target while losing just 5 wickets.
