India defeated South Africa 6-1 in a commanding women's FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 performance at Wagener Hockey Stadium in Amstelveen.
India controlled the contest from the opening stages, taking a 1-0 lead after the first quarter before adding two more goals in Q2 to establish a comfortable 3-0 halftime advantage.
The match was effectively put beyond South Africa during a devastating third quarter. Deepika scored in the 38th minute, Lalremsiami struck in the 43rd, and Sakshi Rana added another in the 44th minute, stretching India's advantage to an emphatic 6-0.
South Africa continued to search for a response and eventually found a consolation goal through Kayla de Waal in the 55th minute, reducing the deficit to 6-1.
However, there was no way back for South Africa as India comfortably protected their substantial advantage through the closing stages.
