Dube’s Brilliance Guides India to 17-Run Win Over Netherlands in T20 World Cup 2026

India defeated Netherlands by a narrow margin of 17 runs to keep their winning streak alive in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Shivam Dube was the star of the match, as he played a crucial knock in the first innings when the Indian middle order was struggling to make runs.

Batting first, India didn’t have a great start as they lost the overhyped Abhishek Sharma early in the first over. Ishan Kishan then played some shots to put the pressure back on Netherlands, but he was also dismissed by Aryan Dutt in the 5th over to give India another blow.

Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma then built a small partnership to take the innings forward, but van Beek came up with a fine spell to remove the latter for just 31 runs. The Indian captain also didn’t offer much resistance at the crease, as he lost his wicket in the 14th over for 34 runs.

Shivam Dube then played a superb knock to lift the scoring rate, giving the home side a much-needed impetus towards the end. Due to his quick-fire 66 runs, India managed to post a big total of 193 at the end of the first innings.

When Netherlands came out to bat, they started the chase steadily. The Dutch were looking to raise the momentum after the Powerplay, but the Indian bowlers came up with a sharp spell to pick back-to-back wickets. Due to that, Netherlands failed to lift the scoring rate, which kept building pressure on them.

The lower middle order of Netherlands also didn’t offer any spark, as Bumrah and Varun picked quick wickets to build further pressure. As a result, India restricted Netherlands to just 176, which helped them to win the contest by 17 runs. They have now topped Group A of the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 with four wins in four matches.
