In the absence of Shubman Gill, KL Rahul has been appointed as the India captain for the South Africa ODI series. This is a high profile series in which top Indian stars such as Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli will return to the action. Similarly, the South African squad will be also bolstered by stars like Quinton de Kock, David Miller and others, so fans could expect a thrilling ODI contest in the upcoming days.

Shubman Gill suffered a neck injury during the recently concluded Kolkata Test. The batter was immediately taken to the hospital to undergo urgent scans, which revealed the severity of the impact. After taking advice from the team’s medical panel, the batter has been now sidelined from international cricket for some time.

The absence of Gill has given Rahul a chance to showcase his leadership skills in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. Rishabh Pant has been also included in the squad after he made a successful return to the test squad. It showcases the trust of selectors in Pant who last played ODIs back in August.

In the bowling department, Prasidh Krishna has been selected in place of Jasprit Bumrah. The star Indian bowler has been rested, keeping in view his fitness concerns, as he is already engaged in the ongoing series against the Proteas.

Similarly, Mohammad Siraj has also been rested to manage his workload. Arshdeep Singh has been named in his place to bolster India’s bowling attack against South Africa.

Hardik Pandya is still missing from the squad due to injury. According to sources, he is completing the final phase of rehabilitation for a quadriceps injury at the Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru. The Indian all-rounder is expected to take part in the upcoming Syed Mushtaq Ali T20s, where he will represent the Baroda team.

The three-match ODI series between India and South Africa is scheduled to start on November 30. The first match will be played in Ranchi, while the second ODI will take place in Raipur on December 3. The final match of the series will be held in Visakhapatnam on December 6, giving fans an electrifying experience of high-octane cricket.
