Ind vs Zim Live: Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson Fire India to 89/1 in Powerplay

India got off to a flying start in the Ind vs Zim encounter, reaching 50 in just 4.1 overs during the mandatory powerplay. Sanju Samson provided the initial spark, scoring 24 off 15 balls with a boundary and two sixes before falling to Blessing Muzarabani in the 3.4 over.

Abhishek Sharma Anchors the Chase

Opening partner Abhishek Sharma ensured India maintained momentum, smashing 38* off 19 deliveries with three boundaries and three sixes. His aggressive strokeplay helped India reach 80/1 by the end of the powerplay, alongside Ishan Kishan, who remained unbeaten on 19 off 14 balls. The duo continued to rotate strike and find gaps, leaving Zimbabwe scrambling in the field.

Bowling Struggles for Zimbabwe

Zimbabwe’s bowlers found it difficult to contain the flow of runs. Richard Ngarava conceded 26 runs in two overs at an economy of 13.00, while Muzarabani was the only bowler to claim a wicket. The others, including Tinotenda Maposa and Brad Evans, struggled to make an impact as India’s openers attacked from ball one.

Strong Foundation for India

Extras also played a part in India’s brisk scoring, contributing seven runs to the total. At 89/1 in 7.5 overs, India laid a solid foundation, keeping the required run rate well under control. With Sharma and Kishan at the crease, the team looks set to accelerate further in the middle overs of this ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 clash.
