HARARE: India’s newly structured bowling attack put on a clinical display of high-octane pace and disciplined line to leave Zimbabwe reeling at 46 for 4 after the first 10 overs of the 1st T20I at the Harare Sports Club.

Having won the toss and elected to field under cloudy conditions, India’s captain Shreyas Iyer deployed an aggressive layout that reaped instantaneous rewards. Fast-bowling sensation Mayank Yadav spearheaded the onslaught, charging in to dismiss opener Brian Bennett on the very first delivery of the match with an explosive, rising delivery caught safely behind by wicketkeeper Ishan Kishan. 

Mayank has become just the third Indian bowler to claim a wicket on the first ball of a T20I innings twice, instantly putting the home side under extreme psychological pressure.

Zimbabwe’s top order found no respite against the relentless sensory blitz of the visitors. Ben Curran struck two boundaries in an 8-ball cameo of 10 runs. Dion Myers tried to steady the collapsing ship but struggled heavily to find gaps against India's tight field placements, crawling to 6 runs off 14 balls before falling victim to the relentless pressure. 

Premier all-rounder and home captain Sikandar Raza also departed cheaply for just 4 runs by Shivan Dube. By the conclusion of the 10th over, Zimbabwe’s run-rate hovered at a sluggish 4.60 runs per over. Middle-order batsman Ryan Burl remained the lone fighting figure for the hosts, unbeaten on 20 runs off 25 deliveries, desperately trying to construct a rebuilding partnership alongside Wesley Madhevere.

India’s dynamic new-ball operational changes paid off heavily, with Mayank Yadav registering spectacular initial figures of 2 for 10 across his opening three overs. With the pitch showing signs of variable bounce, Iyer brought on the spin magic of Ravi Bishnoi immediately following the 10th over to ensure India maintains their absolute stranglehold on the contest.
