Iga Swiatek Reaches in 4th Round of French Open 2026

Four-time champion Iga Swiatek moved into the fourth round of the French Open after beating fellow Pole Magda Linette 6-4, 6-4 in Paris on Friday. The result means Iga Swiatek reaches 4th round for another year at Roland Garros as she continues her bid for a fifth title at the tournament.

The former world number one was tested during parts of the opening set but responded strongly after briefly losing momentum. Linette managed to break serve once, yet Swiatek quickly regained control by winning three consecutive games to put herself back in front.

Linette, ranked 73rd in the world, troubled Swiatek with aggressive baseline play at times, but her second serve proved vulnerable throughout the contest. Swiatek repeatedly stepped inside the court to attack those deliveries and converted key opportunities during the latter stages of both sets.

A double fault from Linette handed Swiatek another crucial break in the opening set before the world number three closed it out comfortably. In the second set, Swiatek established an early advantage with two service breaks and maintained control from the baseline to complete the win in one hour and 25 minutes.

With the victory, Iga Swiatek in French Open remains one of the strongest contenders in the women’s draw despite arriving in Paris without a title since her 2024 triumph on clay at Roland Garros.

Swiatek will next face 15th seed Marta Kostyuk after the Ukrainian defeated Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic in straight sets to book her place in the last 16.

Elsewhere in the men’s draw, Russia’s Andrey Rublev advanced to the fourth round for the second consecutive year with a straight-sets win over Portugal’s Nuno Borges. Rublev secured a 7-5, 7-6(2), 7-6(2) victory and remains in contention for a first Grand Slam title.

The Russian could benefit from the exit of top seed Jannik Sinner earlier in the tournament and will next face either Australia’s Alex de Minaur or Czech player Jakub Mensik for a place in the quarter-finals.
