Earlier this week, an official ICC release credited Kohli with 825 days as the world’s leading ODI batter. The figure quickly circulated across broadcasts, social feeds, and ranking tables. By Thursday, the number had changed; without a fresh announcement, the ICC updated its records to show a cumulative total of 1,547 days, and that revision moves Kohli into rare territory.

What the Updated Numbers Reveal

With the corrected data, Kohli now sits third on the all-time list for most days spent at No.1 in ODI cricket. Only Brian Lara and Viv Richards remain ahead. Among Indian players, no one else comes close.
