Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Islamabad United Eliminator 2 Live: Usman Khan's 61 Powered Kingsmen to 186/5

Hyderabad Kingsmen vs Islamabad United Eliminator 2 Live: Usman Khan's 61 Powered Kingsmen to 186/5

LAHORE: Hyderabad Kingsmen have posted a total of 186/5 in their twenty overs against Islamabad United in this Eliminator 2 fixture. The Kingsmen overcame a poor start to set a challenging target at the Gaddafi Stadium.

Early Wicket and Middle Order Recovery

Islamabad United won the toss and elected to field first in this knockout match. Richard Gleeson justified the decision by dismissing Maaz Sadaqat (0) on the fourth ball of the match. Sadaqat attempted a pull shot but managed only a top edge to square leg. Saim Ayub and Marnus Labuschagne then joined forces to repair the early damage. The pair added 70 runs for the second wicket before Ayub was dismissed for 38 off 27.

Labuschagne continued to anchor the innings with a steady approach. He contributed 39 runs from 32 balls before falling to Imad Wasim in the twelfth over. His departure was followed quickly by Glenn Maxwell, who was also removed by Wasim for 3. These quick wickets reduced the Kingsmen to 85/4 and threatened to derail the innings.

The Islamabad bowlers maintained pressure during this phase with disciplined lines.

Brilliant Finish in the Death Overs

Usman Khan and Kusal Perera completely shifted the momentum during the final stages of the innings. The duo shared a rapid partnership of 101 runs from only 50 deliveries. Usman Khan was the aggressor, reaching his half-century in just 24 balls. He finished with an unbeaten 61 from 30 balls, including ten boundaries. His hitting in the closing overs forced the United bowlers to change their tactics repeatedly.

Kusal Perera provided excellent support from the other end with a brisk 37 off 21. He struck two sixes before being caught off the final ball of the innings. Faheem Ashraf was the bowler to finally break the century stand in the twentieth over.

Richard Gleeson finished with figures of 1 for 40 from his four overs. Imad Wasim was the most effective bowler for United, taking 2 wickets for 16 runs in his 2-over spell. Hyderabad scored 65 runs in the last five overs to reach 186.

Islamabad United now require 187 runs to secure a place in the final.
