MIRPUR: Pakistan all-rounder Hussain Talat faced a worrying moment on Friday during the second ODI against Bangladesh at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium. On the second delivery of the sixth over, Talat sprinted to stop a backfoot punch by Litton Das off Mohammad Wasim Jr from reaching the deep cover boundary and collided with the advertising boards, resulting in what is being assessed as a Hussain Talat injury Ban vs Pak 2nd ODI scare.
Talat was visibly in pain and required immediate attention on the field before being substituted.
According to the Pakistan Cricket Board, the 30-year-old sustained a shoulder injury. “Pakistan all-rounder Hussain Talat sustained a shoulder injury while fielding during the second ODI against Bangladesh,” PCB said in a statement. “Talat received immediate medical attention from the team's medical staff on the field. Following the initial assessment, he has been taken to a hospital for a detailed examination. The nature and extent of the injury will be determined after the doctors complete further medical evaluation.”
Put into bat, Pakistan posted a competitive total of 274 all out in 47.3 overs, thanks to fine contributions from Maaz Sadaqat and Salman Ali Agha. Maaz top-scored with a whirlwind 75 off 46 balls, hitting six fours and five sixes, while Agha added a 62-ball 64, decorated with seven fours and two sixes.
Bangladesh, chasing 275, got off to a shaky start at 27/3 in 6.3 overs before the match was interrupted by hail, leaving the home side needing 248 runs in 261 balls. With Pakistan trailing 1-0 in the three-match series, the ongoing fixture was crucial, and Talat’s injury adds further uncertainty to Pakistan’s campaign.
