After defeating Sri Lanka in the second ODI in Colombo, Harry Brook slammed the surface, on which batters struggled badly to score runs. He said the pitch was unsuitable for batting and not ideal for ODI cricket.
"I don't think that's a great wicket for ODI cricket, if I'm being brutally honest. It's nice to get a win away from home and on a tough surface. We're happy to get the victory” said England white-ball captain Harry Brook.
"The pitch is probably the worst pitch I've ever played on. You had to go out there and adapt as quick as possible, and just try to get off strike and get the other batter on strike." added Harry Brook.
Talking about the performance of Joe Root, who played a pivotal role in the 2nd ODI victory, Brook said that he is a phenomenal player who has the ability to bat under tough conditions.
"His ability to be able to get off strike, and put the bad ball away when they slightly miss, is awesome. He's a phenomenal player to have in our side." said Harry Brook at the post-match press conference.
Brook then explained his personal views on Sri Lanka, describing why he loves visiting and playing in the country.
"I always love coming to Sri Lanka. It's a great country. I always feel extremely welcomed from everyone, and obviously enjoy playing here. So it's nice to get the win on a very difficult surface.” said Harry Brook.
"I was just trying to take the ball as late as possible," he added. "I don't think that's a great wicket for ODI cricket, if I'm being brutally honest. But we found a way today, and we adapted and learned from the mistakes we made in the first game, both with bat and ball, and that got us across the line.” concluded Harry Brook.
