England captain Harry Brook expects plenty of big scores in the upcoming ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He believes teams could surpass 300 runs in a match, as the pitches in India are flat and favorable for batting.
Speaking at a media briefing ahead of the tournament, he said there are several grounds in India where teams could score 300+ runs, as the pitches there are highly conducive to batting.
“There are plenty of grounds in India where there could be a score of 300-plus. The wickets are quite good, with rapid outfields and fairly short boundaries.” said England captain Harry Brook.
“So, yeah, you’ve just got to go out there, be fearless, not worry about getting out and keep on trying to attack the ball.” added Harry Brook.
England will enter the ICC T20 World Cup 2026 on the back of strong performances in Sri Lanka. They aim to carry that momentum into the tournament, which begins on Saturday with the opening match between Pakistan vs Netherlands in Colombo.
When asked about England’s approach to the mega event, Brook said that the team will focus on one match at a time without looking too far ahead.
“We’ll take it game by game and see where we land in a couple of weeks. We are confident, we want to go all the way in the tournament.” said England captain Harry Brook.
He then added that dew can play a major role in the upcoming matches, but still nothing cannot be predicted firmly while playing India and Sri Lanka.
“Obviously, dew might play a factor in some different grounds. You’ve just got to try and assess the pitch, when you get there.” said Harry Brook.
“Me and Baz (coach Brendon McCullum), we’ll be having chats here and there about it. We usually end up deciding that we don’t have a clue.” concluded Harry Brook.
