Brook Backs Previous Pallekele Experience, Stays Alert to Sri Lanka’s Batting Threat

Brook Backs Previous Pallekele Experience, Stays Alert to Sri Lanka’s Batting Threat

Harry Brook is well aware of Sri Lanka’s threat in the upcoming T20 World Cup clash at Pallekele. He is confident that England will challenge the home side similarly like they did in the recent T20I series. Drawing inspiration from that, Brook is looking forward to having a good game against Sri Lanka to get off to a strong start in the Super Eights stage.

Having previously played at Pallekele, Brook understands what type of challenge the surface of the ground will bring. He is confident that England can counter it by playing aggressive yet smart cricket.

"We can take a lot of confidence having played here and experienced this surface and this ground. We had a very good series against them here, so we can hopefully take that experience and use it in the game tomorrow." said Harry Brook while speaking to the reporters.

He then spoke about the brilliance of Pathum Nissanka, who is currently batting very well in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. Brook hopes to get Nissanka out early in the match, so that pressure can be exerted on Sri Lanka’s middle order.

"Some of their batters are batting really well. So hopefully we can get a few wickets in the powerplay. And Nissanka is on a bit of a heater at the minute, so it would be ideal if we can get him out early." said England captain, Harry Brook.

Brook then highlighted the unity within the team that has helped them win tight games earlier in the tournament. According to him, those performances have given England plenty of confidence that they can win matches from any situation.

"I think winning them tight games as well just shows the belief and the unity that we have to be able to get through them games, albeit not against the strongest opponents. But we've still managed to find ourselves in sticky situations and got out of them with some exceptional performances in there from lads lower down the order." said Harry Brook
