Hardik Pandya Wants More Batting-Friendly Surfaces in T20 World Cup 2026

Hardik Pandya Wants More Batting-Friendly Surfaces in T20 World Cup 2026

The star allrounder of India, Hardik Pandya, has said that India has not played on batting-friendly surfaces in the last few matches, so they would like to play on flatter ones in the upcoming games. It is an honest admission, because the surface at Delhi where India made 209 was not an easy pitch to bat on.

"Two back-to-back pitches haven't been batting-friendly. Wicket was holding a bit today. You just adapt and let your skill-set work. We'd like a little more flatter wickets." said Hardik Pandya after the match.

Ishan Kishan also shared a similar opinion about the surfaces on which India have played recently. He said the pitches at Wankhede and in Delhi behaved differently from what they are used to in normal conditions.

"In both the wickets, I feel it was a bit different from what we expected to happen. And today, looking at the death overs, when we were not able to regularly hit big sixes, I think we need to also give credit to Namibia bowlers because they were bang on with their yorkers, they were bang on with their slower ones." said Ishan Khan at the post-match press conference.

Kishan then added that playing on such surfaces has given India plenty of lessons that will help them later in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026. He also applauded the skills of the Namibian bowlers, saying that they executed their plans perfectly in the final overs.

"So yeah, it was a good learning. Maybe if some other team is doing the same thing, maybe we can use the crease more or we can do something different, which can irritate the bowler. So it was a good learning in this game and especially I think it was not about our batters not being able to hit sixes, but it was more of them bowling very well in the death overs." said Ishan Kishan.
