India’s star allrounder Hardik Pandya is looking to make a strong comeback in the ODI side. He has set his sights on the upcoming ICC ODI World Cup 2027 which is set to be played in South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Interestingly, Hardik has not played a single ODI game since the Champions Trophy 2025, as the Indian team has been managing his workload carefully due to his fitness concerns.
The 32-year-old has reportedly spent the past few months working to get his bowling fitness back, which is crucial for his return. During the Champions Trophy 2025, Pandya’s bowling was carefully managed, as the team decided to give him limited overs to keep his fitness on track. Since then, concerns about his ability to bowl full overs have affected his selection in the Indian ODI team.
Earlier this year, Pandya missed out on India’s ODI squad for the home series against New Zealand, as the BCCI stated he was not yet fit enough to bowl his full quota in the ODI matches.
“He can lend the perfect balance, but he has to convince the selectors and the team management that he will be available to bowl 10 overs,” a BCCI source recently spoke about Hardik Pandya.
As per the reports, Hardik Pandya has intensified his bowling efforts in the nets to get the attention of the selectors. He is actively working on adding new variations to his bowling, so that his selection chances in the Indian team becomes bright.
“Hardik has been increasing his workload. He has worked on his action to bowl in-swingers as well without compromising on pace,” said the BCCI source.
