Hansi Flick to Extend Contract: Barcelona Boss Set to Stay Until 2028

FC Barcelona manager Hansi Flick is set to extend his contract until 2028 after guiding the club to consecutive LaLiga titles, with the Spanish champions wrapping up a dominant domestic season. The agreement comes after Barcelona secured the league with three games still remaining.

Barcelona have moved to 91 points, sitting 14 clear of second-placed Real Madrid, with Villarreal in third on 69. The campaign has been marked by consistency, with only four league defeats across the season as Flick’s side controlled the title race from an early stage.

Hansi flick to Extend Contract 

Flick, whose current deal runs until 2027, confirmed he will sign a one-year extension with an option for a further year, taking his potential stay to 2028. The structure gives both the club and coach flexibility based on future results.

"I'll let you know - sorry - the last few days I’ve had different things to do," Flick, whose father died on Sunday, told reporters.

"Of course, I'm really happy about this (contract extension). They have given me and my team the confidence to work one or two years more, so for me it's like that.

"I think a lot of coaches would be happy if they get a contract of three, four or five years, but in Barca's case it's good to limit it. I really appreciate it a lot.”

He added:

"We go to 2028 and then we'll see if everything is right, and if so, we can decide on one more year. The club has the right, and I have the right - I think it's a good deal,"

Barcelona sealed the title with a 2-0 victory over Real Madrid in a high-profile Clasico at Camp Nou, securing their 29th league crown in front of home supporters. The result confirmed their return to domestic dominance under Flick.
