Gull Feroza Penalised by ICC for Showing Dissent During Hong Kong Clash

DUBAI: Gull Feroza penalised by the ICC after Pakistan’s batter was fined 10 per cent of her match fee for breaching the governing body’s Code of Conduct during the ACC Women’s T20 Asia Cup 2026 match against Hong Kong in Dubai on Monday.

Feroza was charged under Article 2.8, which covers showing dissent at an umpire’s decision during an international match. The offence came after she was given out lbw to Hong Kong bowler Kary Chan early in Pakistan’s innings.

The 27-year-old indicated that she had made contact with the delivery before it struck her pad, using her bat to signal that she believed she had edged the ball. The incident was recorded by the match officials and resulted in one additional demerit point.

It was Feroza’s second offence within the applicable 24-month period, taking her total to two demerit points. She accepted both the charge and the proposed sanction from ICC International Panel of Match Referees member Supriya Rani Das, meaning no formal hearing was required.

The decision was supported by the match officials, including on-field umpires Rabab Ahsan and Rokeya Sultana, third umpire Shivani Mishra and fourth umpire Shathira Jakir.

Previous Offence Leaves Feroza on Two Demerit Points

Feroza’s latest sanction follows another Level 1 breach earlier in the same disciplinary period. She was penalised during Pakistan’s match against Australia at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026 after her reaction to her dismissal resulted in a separate Code of Conduct violation.

That incident fell under Article 2.2, which deals with the abuse of cricket equipment, clothing, ground equipment, fixtures and fittings during an international match. After being dismissed in the second over of Pakistan’s innings, Feroza threw her bat and gloves aggressively near the team dugout.

The latest demerit point means Feroza now has two points on her disciplinary record during the 24-month window. Under the ICC regulations, reaching four demerit points triggers a suspension, with the length depending on the format of the next applicable international match.

A player reaching that threshold can receive a ban equivalent to one Test, two ODIs or two T20Is, depending on which format comes first.

Feroza therefore remains two demerit points away from the suspension threshold following the incident against Hong Kong.
