Glenn Phillips Optimistic of Having a “Good Day” Against Bumrah in T20 World Cup Final

New Zealand’s explosive middle-order batter Glenn Phillips fully understands the threat posed by Jasprit Bumrah in the upcoming T20 World Cup final at Ahmedabad. He hopes the Black Caps will have a good day against him, as they have prior experience of playing him in bilateral series.

"Bumrah is a fantastic bowler. He's got so many variations. He hits the block hole at the death incredibly well. You know, and he's human as well. He is allowed to have a bad day, as are the rest of us. So hopefully we have a good day against him," said Glenn Phillips while speaking to the reporters.

He then talked about how England played Bumrah in the semi-final, explaining that they focused on attacking the other bowlers while playing cautiously against Bumrah.

"The way England played him yesterday, in terms of trying to take on the last two overs, and give themselves as much of a chance as possible. That was the tactic that they'd employed." added Glenn Phillips.

Speaking about the last semi-final against South Africa, Phillips said that New Zealand were lucky to win the toss, as batting second allowed them to take advantage of the dew. He added that it is one of those factors that will also come into play in the upcoming final, giving the batters an opportunity to play their shots freely.

"No real excuses. I think coming from Kolkata, it was a great opportunity to understand that dew factor. We were obviously lucky enough to win the toss and bat. And I guess chasing down 170 in a very limited number of overs was just fantastic. Especially the boys up top. They're used to playing with high strike rates. And obviously, all the Indian boys do the same," said Glenn Phillips.
