Glamorgan have signed the experienced Afghanistan pacer Fazalhaq Farooqi for the upcoming T20 Blast 2026. They have roped him in to bolster the team’s bowling attack, which also includes other notable overseas names.
Fazalhaq Farooqi has good experience of playing in the UK, which is why Glamorgan decided to bring him in for the upcoming tournament. His ability to take wickets with both the new and old ball makes him a perfect fit for Glamorgan, who were in need of a complete pacer in their lineup.
"Fazalhaq comes with a growing reputation as one of the leading bowlers in T20 cricket. He will provide us with a high-quality wicket-taking threat with the new ball and some excellent death-bowling skills at the back end of the innings. We're looking forward to welcoming our first Afghan overseas player to the Club." said Glamorgan's director of cricket, Mark Wallace.
Glamorgan have not made it to the knockout stage of the Blast since 2017, but they have added some experienced T20 players this winter. Talking about the signings, Sean Dickson has joined them from Somerset, while Australian fast bowler Nathan McAndrew is also set to come in as an overseas player.
Earlier this week, the club confirmed that New South Wales and Australia A seamer Ryan Hadley will play for them in the first six matches of the County Championship, as they look to replace the spot left by James Harris after his retirement.
"We've been tracking Ryan's progress on the Australian domestic circuit and feel his style of bowling will add an extra skillset to our attack at the start of the season," said Mark Wallace.
"He's coming off a good domestic season in Australia which has seen him break into the Australia A Team and we're looking forward to welcoming him to Sophia Gardens in the coming days." added Mark Wallace.
