Gardner Leads Australia to a Big Total

After winning the toss, Australia opted to bat first at the Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore. The openers gave the team a solid start, reaching 40 runs in five overs. Skipper Alyssa Healy contributed a quick 19 from 17 balls before Bree Illing dismissed her.

The middle overs saw a few quick wickets fall, allowing New Zealand to gain some momentum. Phoebe Litchfield scored a quick 45 from 31 balls, hitting two sixes and six fours, before being bowled on the first ball after the powerplay.

Gardner was eventually dismissed in the 46th over for 115 off 83 balls, including 16 fours and a six. Her innings was the backbone of Australia’s 326 all out, showcasing her ability to perform under pressure and against a competitive bowling attack.

New Zealand’s Bowling Efforts

For New Zealand, Lea Tahuhu and Jess Kerr shared six wickets between them, who were attempting to contain Australia's score. While their contributions briefly slowed the run rate, Gardner’s partnerships with the lower order proved decisive, and Australia posted a commanding total, which will be difficult for New Zealand to chase.
