FIFA World Cup 2026 Opening Events Set Stage for Historic Tournament
The World Cup 2026 Opening Ceremony will unfold in a way football fans have never seen before. Instead of a single host city staging the festivities, FIFA has planned three interconnected celebrations across Mexico, Canada and the United States ahead of the tournament's opening matches.
The format reflects the unique nature of the expanded competition, which is being jointly hosted by three countries for the first time. While each event will showcase local culture and entertainment, all three ceremonies will carry a common message of unity before football takes center stage.
Mexico City will host the first celebration on June 11. Fans in Pakistan can watch the ceremony from 10:00 PM (PKT), with Mexico taking on South Africa two hours later.
The Mexican showcase is expected to highlight traditional culture, indigenous performances and contemporary artistic displays. A number of international music stars are also expected to appear, including Shakira and Burna Boy, who are set to perform the official tournament song "Dai Dai."
Other reported performers include Tyla, J Balvin, Alejandro Fernández, Lila Downs, Belinda, Danny Ocean, Maná and Los Ángeles Azules.
Three Countries, One World Cup Celebration
The second event is scheduled in Toronto before Canada's opening match against Bosnia and Herzegovina. The ceremony will begin at 10:30 PM Pakistan time on June 12 and focus on Canada's multicultural identity.
Artists expected to participate include Alanis Morissette, Alessia Cara, Jessie Reyez, Nora Fatehi, Michael Bublé, Elyanna, Vegedream, Sanjoy, and William Prince.
Attention will then shift to Los Angeles, where the final FIFA World Cup 2026 opening celebration will take place before the United States faces Paraguay.
Pakistani viewers will need an early alarm. The ceremony is scheduled for 4:30 AM (PKT) on June 13, followed by kickoff at 6:00 AM.
Katy Perry, Future, Anitta, LISA, Rema and Tyla are among the major names expected to perform during the American segment.
