After facing washouts in back-to-back games, Fatima Sana has called on the International Cricket Council (ICC) to arrange better venues next time. She expressed her displeasure over how the matches were scheduled at venues where the weather forecast was not good. She urged the ICC to choose venues in the future keeping these things in mind, as the players wait for years to participate in the World Cup to compete against the top teams.

“The only thing is that the weather did not go in our favor in the England match and the other matches. ICC must arrange good venues for the World Cup because we are waiting for four years,” said Fatima Sana at the post-match press conference.

She said that Pakistan will not play more matches immediately after the Women’s World Cup. This situation is not good for her team, as they want more fixtures in the calendar to prepare for the next big ICC event.

“We are not playing much cricket in the recent past. Definitely we need much more cricket after the World Cups. Next year, we have T20 World Cup as well, and hopefully we get more cricket and we prepare well for the next big event,” said Fatima Sana.

When asked about the performance of Pakistan in the ICC Women’s World Cup 2025, she said that the bowling department of her team did exceptionally well. The captain lamented the poor performance with the bat as the main reason behind their failure in the tournament. Keeping these results in view, she expects improvement in the team in the near future.

“We were very good in bowling and in fielding, but we are lacking in batting. In couple of matches, we were up to a very good mark and we were very close against Australia and England, but unfortunately, we were not crossing the line, and that is the main thing,” said Fatima Sana.

She then explained her learning experience as a captain. It was essentially her first major event as Pakistan’s leader, so it offered her plenty of lessons.

“As a captain and youngest captain, these matches give me a lot of boost. I am in a learning phase, and I am always watching Kane Williamson. He also lost a close World Cup but [he was] still smiling,” said Fatima Sana.

Pakistan endured a disastrous World Cup campaign this year, however, the spirit of the team is high that they can turn things around in the future. The captain is also confident that they could emerge as a much stronger team in future events, provided they get more matches and preparation time before the next global tournament.
