The Falcons defeated Kingsmen by two wickets in a dramatic finish to launch their Caribbean Premier League 2026 campaign, chasing down 168 on the final delivery against debutants Jamaica Kingsmen. A composed half-century from Tajinder Singh and a decisive spell from Alzarri Joseph ensured Antigua and Barbuda Falcons collected their first points of the season.

Tajinder Anchors Successful Chase

The Falcons vs Kingsmen contest appeared to be under control for much of the chase after Tajinder and Tim Robinson rebuilt the innings with a substantial third-wicket partnership. Robinson contributed 40 before departing, while Tajinder continued to rotate the strike and punish loose deliveries on his way to 62 from 37 balls in his first CPL appearance.

With fewer than 20 runs needed in the closing overs and several wickets in hand, the Falcons looked set for a comfortable finish. Jamaica, however, fought back through disciplined bowling from Keemo Paul, Andre Russell and Hunain Shah, reducing the equation to two runs from the final ball. Shamar Springer managed to squeeze the delivery into the outfield, allowing the winning runs despite a late scramble.

Joseph Sets the Platform with the Ball

Earlier, Antigua and Barbuda Falcons restricted Jamaica Kingsmen to 167 for 7 after choosing to field. Joseph struck three times to break the middle order and was later named Player of the Match, while Jayden Seales and Usama Mir maintained pressure with economical spells that limited scoring opportunities.

Jamaica made a brisk start through Reeza Hendricks, who scored 42 from 25 deliveries, but the innings lost momentum once wickets began to fall. Captain Rovman Powell top-scored with 47, although his innings came at a measured pace during a quiet middle phase.

Late contributions from Hassan Khan and Keemo Paul lifted the Kingsmen to a competitive total, but the acceleration arrived only in the closing overs after an extended slowdown through the middle of the innings.

The narrow result gives Antigua and Barbuda Falcons a winning start to the tournament, while Jamaica Kingsmen will take encouragement from the fight they showed despite falling just short in their first CPL outing.
