Fakhar Zaman Injury Clouds Pakistan ODI Plans in Bangladesh

Fakhar Zaman Injury Clouds Pakistan ODI Plans in Bangladesh

Pakistan may arrive in Dhaka with a problem already building. The Fakhar Zaman injury has complicated plans for the Pakistan vs Bangladesh ODI series. The left-handed opener is still recovering from a hamstring injury.

Team management had hoped the experienced batter would regain fitness before departure. That optimism has cooled. Medical staff are monitoring his rehab, but time is tight.

Pakistan are scheduled to arrive in Bangladesh on March 9. All three matches of the Pakistan vs Bangladesh ODI series will unfold at the Shere Bangla National Stadium on March 11, 13 and 15.

Losing Fakhar at this stage would not be a small setback. Fakhar is one of Pakistan’s key batters for Pakistan in ODIs. If he misses the series, Pakistan will lose an aggressive option at the top.

Selection Questions Begin to Surface

The timing of his injury is also tricky. Pakistan have not played an ODI series since November. They last player against Sri Lanka at home and won 3-0. That clean run gave the side confidence and strengthened Shaheen Shah Afridi’s early record as captain.

Now the equation looks different.

Selectors are already expected to meet later this week to finalise the squad for the Pakistan vs Bangladesh ODI series. Sources suggest discussions could stretch beyond a simple replacement. A few emerging players are also part of the plan. Pakistan is quietly reshaping its white-ball plans for bigger picture.

Attention is also shifting toward the ICC Cricket World Cup 2027. That tournament still feels distant, yet planning has clearly started behind closed doors. Some senior names who struggled recently may find their spots under review.

For Fakhar, the immediate focus remains recovery. The rehabilitation programme continues, though the calendar is unforgiving.

The team will head to Dhaka hoping for clarity soon. Until then, Fakhar Zaman’s injury remains the main concern before the tour.
