Fakhar Zaman Backs Pakistan to Find the Right Combination for 2027 ODI World Cup

Fakhar Zaman believes Pakistan have enough time to sort out their team combination before the 2027 ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in Africa. He sees the upcoming ODI tri-series involving England and Sri Lanka as an important chance for the side to test its options and prepare for the big event.

Fakhar also pointed out that the players have already had time in the middle during the first-class season. He hopes the experience will help them get into the right rhythm for the 50-over format.

“The team combination is very good, and you can see that the pitches are also being prepared accordingly. Everyone has the World Cup in mind, and our combination is excellent,” said Fakhar Zaman while talking to the reporters.

“The best thing is that all the players are coming off the first-class season. They are in rhythm and have played longer formats of cricket. When you play first-class cricket, 50-over matches do not feel that long. However, if you regularly play T20 cricket, the 50-over format can feel longer. It is encouraging that all the players have come through the season and are in very good touch,” added Fakhar Zaman.

With the 2027 World Cup getting closer, Pakistan will have a chance to try different players and work out their best playing XI during the tri-series.

Fakhar Zaman also admitted that winning a major ICC trophy remains a big target for the team. He said the players have talked at length about bringing an end to Pakistan’s wait for another major title.

“I am confident that everyone tries to do the same in their respective professions. However, cricket is a game in which things sometimes go your way and sometimes they do not.” said Fakhar Zaman.

“Our fans are excited, but at the back of our minds, we know it has been quite some time since we won a major tournament. We have reached finals and played in them, but the happiness you experience as a nation after winning a trophy is different from reaching semi-finals or finals,” added Fakhar Zaman.

Fakhar further said that many senior players are working hard to make a mark in the upcoming tournament, with winning the World Cup trophy their major goal.

“We have had several discussions about this, and many players are taking it very seriously. We will do our best, and we hope Allah helps us bring the World Cup trophy back to Pakistan,” said Fakhar Zaman.
