Fakhar Thanks PCB Chairman for "Wonderful Gesture" as Opener Nears Return From Two-Match Suspension

KARACHI: Pakistan opener Fakhar Zaman acknowledged a birthday message and bouquet sent by Mohsin Naqvi, chairman of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), during ongoing commitments in the Pakistan Super League.

The left-hander, who turned 36 on Friday, received the bouquet at the team hotel through a PCB representative. Fakhar later shared a video on social media expressing appreciation for the gesture.

"Thank you very much, Chairman [Mr Mohsin Naqvi], for such a wonderful gesture. Your kind birthday wishes and the beautiful flowers truly meant a lot. Grateful for your warmth and thoughtfulness," Fakhar captioned the video.

Return Likely After Suspension

The development comes as Fakhar Zaman nears a return to action in PSL 11 following a two-match suspension. The penalty was imposed under the PCB Code of Conduct for a Level 3 offence linked to alleged ball-tampering during the tournament

Fakhar had challenged the decision and sought a full hearing under league regulations. However, the disciplinary panel upheld the ban after reviewing submissions and available evidence.

As a result, the Lahore Qalandars opener missed fixtures against Multan Sultans and Islamabad United.

Focus Shifts to Upcoming Fixture

With the suspension now served, Fakhar Zaman is in contention for selection in Lahore’s next match against Peshawar Zalmi at the National Stadium. His return would strengthen the defending champions’ top order as the tournament progresses.

The opener remains one of Pakistan’s experienced white-ball batters, having represented the national side across formats, including ODIs and T20Is.
