The upcoming edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) is expected to welcome two new franchises. According to the sources, these two new teams could represent the iconic cities of Faisalabad and Gilgit in the next edition of the PSL.
Earlier, the PSL stakeholders shortlisted six cities for the final selection, including Hyderabad, Sialkot, Muzaffarabad, Faisalabad, Gilgit and Rawalpindi. After closely analyzing various aspects of Pakistan cricket, they are now likely moving forward with the names of Faisalabad and Gilgit as the upcoming teams.
This is a big development for all the PSL fans who were eagerly waiting to know the names of the upcoming franchises. The premier franchise T20 tournament of Pakistan has operated with six teams since its inception, however, plans for the upcoming edition are now changing with the addition of new franchises.
As per the sources, the standoff between PCB and Multan Sultans has not been resolved as of yet. Due to this, Multan is the only team that has still not received the renewal offer letter. All the other five franchises, including Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, Lahore Qalandars, Peshawar Zalmi and Quetta Gladiators, have received renewal offers after PCB finalized the independent valuation process for the league and its participants recently.
To keep the valuation process fair and transparent, PCB consulted with all franchises through joint and individual meetings. An independent valuer, EY MENA, was also included in this process to enhance the trust factor between the board and the franchises.
The purpose of these sessions was to allow the franchises to review their valuation process and directly ask the evaluators any questions of concern.
Besides this, PCB has also started a process for the sale of two new franchises. The chairman of PCB, Mohsin Naqvi, recently shared an invitation banner on social media describing the guidelines set by the board to acquire two new franchises. The deadline for the submission of proposals has been set for December 15.
"Pakistan Cricket Board invites bids from interested parties who wish to acquire the Team Franchise Rights for two new teams of the PSL," said the invitation letter prepared by the PCB.
"Bid documents containing all relevant details, may be obtained from the undersigned. Deadline for submission of Technical Proposals is 15th December 2025 at 11:00 AM. The proposals shall be opened at 11:30 AM on the same day. Only technically qualified bidders will be allowed to participate further in the process." the statement further added.
The PCB head, Mohsin Naqvi, is also excited to welcome two new teams, saying that the league is going to get bigger and better next year.
"The Pakistan Super League is about to get Bigger and Better! Process for the sale of Two New Teams has been launched. Time for two new dreams [PSL] to come true," said Mohsin Naqvi.
Keeping in view these reports, it will be interesting to see when the two new teams, along with their respective owners, will be announced by the PCB. It will certainly bring a fresh wave of excitement among all the PSL fans who are eagerly waiting for the start of the next season.
